It finally happened: After 130 weeks on sale we can now report that Nintendo sold its 50^th million Wii to customers.

 So far the Wii is the fastest selling console ever released, selling at an even faster pace than the DS or the Playstation 2 at their respective points in life. (See the graph below for more details, numbers in millions)

We’ve also included PS3 and Xbox360 for comparison purposes. As you can see the Wii holds up quite well.

 We’re looking forward to E3 and hope those 50 million people will see a lot of games worth playing. Stay tuned for more news and analysis here on VGChartz!
