As reported on Monday, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves preorders had reached nearly 300,000 units in the Americas prior to release suggesting a very strong launch week of maybe upto half a million units. Well we can now reveal that preliminary VGChartz data shows day one sales of over 300,000 units which should rise to 450,000 - 500,000 units by the end of the week, making Uncharted 2 the 3rd fastest-selling PS3 title to date in America behind Grand Theft Auto IV and Metal Gear Solid 4.

Day one sales in Japan have been independently reported at around 47,000 units - week one sales should be in the 60,000 - 65,000 range. Although VGChartz does not yet have any hard sales for Europe, we expect week one to come in around 400,000 - 500,000 units bringing worldwide week one sales to around one million units. This would place Uncharted 2 as the fourth fastest-selling PS3 game worldwide. The original Uncharted sold 135,000 units in week one, so this represents nearly an 8-fold increase.
