Following our previous report of around 300,000 units sold on day one, the latest VGChartz preliminary data is now in and shows that the final tally for the week was around 440,000 units - the third largest PS3 week one ever in the Americas.

PS3 hardware also saw a nice increase last week - up around 25% to 100,000 units and again ahead of Xbox360. We are still waiting for European data to come in but expect around 350,000 - 450,000 units for the week and similar hardware increases.
