Whether you're a fan of the famed videogame series its based on, there's little doubt that the upcoming Prince of Persia: Sands of Time big-budget movie is looking to buck the trend of bad/mediocre games-to-film, and could likely be the one to bring to the genre to true 'blockbuster' status.  Those who doubt may have to rethink their pessimism after watching the film's debut trailer, which is chock-full of everything a summer hit is expected to have; hot stars, explosions, orchestral soundtrack, and did I forget to mention the hot stars?

Under the watchful eyes of director Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and super-producer Jerry Bruckheimer, Prince of Persia looks like a good mix of Pirates of the Caribbean and The Mummy, which hopefully translates to more of the former and less of the latter.  We'll have to wait until next summer to find out if Jake Gyllenhaal (who looks exactly like the game's lead) can help bring in the audiences necessary to completely - forgive the pun - change the game.
