With only eight weeks left of 2009 and many of the big holiday games already released, nearly half of the top 40 preorders this week are for 2010 titles. Leading the way at this stage are MAG, Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Bioshock 2, God of War III and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - all should do launches of over 250,000 in Q1 2010.

Dragon Age: Origins looks like being the strongest launch next week - over 200,000 preorders coupled with strong reviews means that this could actually be a larger hit than many expected. I expect a week one of around 300,000 units (360/PS3) and strong sales through the holidays.

Modern Warfare 2 preorders close in on 2.4 million across Xbox360 and PS3 with another week to go, final preorders should hit 2.6 million with a week one of 3.5-4 million in the Americas, and another 2-2.5m in Europe and other regions. With such a high average retail price, week one revenue predictions of over $500m and the title becoming the biggest entertainment launch of all-time seem likely to become true.
